pics from my phone

welcome to the new layout, if you haven’t seen it yet! wordpress informed me that they were retiring the former layout (or something like that), which i was pretty bummed about. but i got the chance to change things up a bit, which can be exciting :)

i don’t have anything wild or crazy to post today. i just thought i’d share some pictures that i recently uploaded from my phone. i have been having some issues getting my pictures from my phone to my computer, but for some reason- today, it worked. some of the pictures are a bit old, but i hope you enjoy them!

still in love with ranunculus from the flower market… soon they will be in season again!

i had a fun time at the pumpkin patch with lovely friends. i won’t lie, i’m a bit sad that fall is ending and winter is nearing. don’t get me wrong, i can’t wait for Christmas… but i just wish the fall season would last a little longer!

our delicious pie from last Thanksgiving! excited to see (and eat) what’s in store for this year!

“it’s the most wonderful time of the year!” these are the gifts i gave to my family last year. i think i could spend more money on wrapping decor than gifts :) is that terrible??

and my dad bought the movie White Christmas to get us into the holiday spirit! i’m looking forward to family time watching it… but can it really already be here?!

last but not least, it’s always great to come home :)

there you have it! some oldies, but very good-ies! this is kind of a fun post :) might have to do more of these…

i hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. i am thankful for so much in this season of life: my beautiful family, roommates to journey with, studying a field that i’m passionate about, opportunities to create, this humble little blog that i adore, and a God who is absolutely faithful through the big and small.

[what are you thankful for this year?]

ps- i have had a few people ask about Christmas decorations and what i will blog for the holiday season :) i love it!! i am brainstorming some things now, and i can’t wait to share them with you all!

inspiration: mason jars

i’m not sure where this love for mason jars came from, but for some reason i can’t get enough of them. there is something so simplistic, yet stunning about them. and they can be used for so many different things! i browsed through some Flickr pages to find some jar inspiration and ideas…

i love the idea of using jars to hold different craft supplies… crayons, markers, paint brushes, buttons, and other embellishments. maybe one day i’ll have a huge craft room with mason jars full of all my goods… okay, i’ll keep dreaming.

mason jars also make great cups! they seem so southern and sweet. i love big cups that hold lots of ice to keep my drink cool.  don’t you wish you were drinking lemonade out of that glass?

if the ranunculus weren’t enough in this picture, they’re in a mason jar on top two great suitcases. just about every flower (except for maybe roses, but those are so generic. or classy ? take your pick) looks good in a mason jar. but ranunculus and mason jars- perfect combo. think i might move here.

hanging mason jars look amazing! the way they shine at dusk is indescribable. i love that these jars in the picture have some twine wrapped around them. so pretty. so that dream house with the craft room- include these too. hanging above my wrap around porch… oh a girl can dream, right?

feeling crafty, but unsettled with out a place to call home. so this post will have to do for now…

inspiration: chalkboard paint

my planner is a slow and steady process. i don’t want to do too much at once. so as i’m putting that aside for a little bit, i’m getting excited to create something with the oh so fabulous chalkboard paint. i’ve known about it for a while and have been so eager to use it for a project. sidenote: using chalkboard paint is one of the things on my summer to do list…

i have no clue what i will make with the paint, but here are a few images to give you some ideas of the endless possibilities:

okay, i think you get the point. there are SO many crazy-awesome things you can do with chalkboard paint!! this week i’m helping my beautiful friend, Anna, make chalkboard signs that will direct guests to her wedding. i’m excited to get a chance to use this paint. and so stoked for Anna and Sam’s big day. it’s going to be nothing short of amazing… the wedding that is ;)

pictures to come! hope you’re feeling inspired!

inspiration: happytape

summer to do list #5- buy from happytape.com

just so you get an idea, here is happytape :)

image from happytape

this masking tape is ABSOLUTELY beautiful. it’s called “japanese washi tape”. in little research that i’ve done, i found that washi paper is made with many different materials, including bamboo, rice, wheat, and fibers from tree bark. the paper is used in traditional japanese art like origami and also used to make clothes and household goods. and also used to make amazing, colorful tape!

i cannot get enough of all the colors, designs, and sizes. i could go crazy with all this tape!! some of you may already know about my love for regular masking tape… this washi tape is like heaven. check out the happytape blog for more tape and some ideas for how to use it.

one of my favorite blogs did a great picture spread on a ton of ways to use washi tape. click here to see the full post- it’s totally worth it!

i am hoping to buy some washi tape of my own… but until then, i’ll just keep dreaming :)

okay, well i hope you enjoyed my first short, non-art-journal post! still testing the waters here…
